Odysseus
I think that Odysseus is also a hero, because he shows many triats of what it takes to be a hero. One of the many is hero deeds. He has to go through so many obstacles on his way back from Troy, like Calypso, the cyclops, and Poseiden. Also, he gets an Ultimate Boon, which is his willingness not to give up, no matter the circumstances. Another thing that makes him a hero is, his guide. Odysseus's guide is Hermes, who tells him to eat the poison leaf because it will defeat the poison that Calypso gives him in her palace. That is why I think that Odysseus is a hero.

Nick, you cite some relevant steps of the Hero's Journey in your discussion, which is excellent. The only problem is that you reference illustrations that happen outside of Books V & VI.
